— Our Story
From a half-finished living room to a trusted design resource.
“We built the resource we wished existed when we were staring at our own empty walls.”
Vellora Interiors started the way most home projects do — with a half-finished living room and a thousand saved Pinterest pins that never quite came together. Our founder kept hitting the same wall every home decorator knows: gorgeous inspiration everywhere, but almost no clear answers about how to actually pull a room together. Which sofa size? What rug under it? How high should curtains hang?
So we built the resource we wished existed — a digital-first interior design blog that turns the rules pros use behind the scenes into approachable, step-by-step guides. No design degree required, no overwhelming jargon, and absolutely no pressure to gut your home and start over.
Since then, Vellora Interiors has grown into a trusted destination for renters, first-time homeowners, and anyone refreshing one room at a time.

Good design isn’t about more. It’s about choosing better — and knowing exactly why each choice works.
— The Vellora Philosophy
— Core Values
Four principles, every guide.
The standards we hold every checklist, recommendation, and room framework to.
01
Clarity Over Complexity
If a guide doesn’t answer “what do I do next?”, we rewrite it. Every article is built on simple frameworks anyone can follow, no design degree required.
02
Real Homes, Real Budgets
We design for rentals, small apartments, and tight budgets, not just photo-shoot show homes. Practicality is baked into every recommendation.
03
Calm Over Trendy
We focus on timeless principles, layout, light, proportion, and color, that outlast viral trends. Grounded, never gimmicky.
04
Reader-First, Always
Your questions shape our editorial calendar. No fluff, no filler, no affiliate-driven advice, just guides that genuinely help.
— Our Team
The people behind every guide.
Vellora Interiors is run by a small, hands-on team of certified interior designers, color specialists, stylists, and small-space organizers. We don’t just write about design, we live it, test it, and rearrange our own living rooms a few too many times to be sure it works.
That mix is intentional, it’s what lets us write a single guide that works for the renter in a Brooklyn studio and the family settling into a four-bedroom suburban home.
Editorial Team

Sloane Whitaker
Editor-in-Chief
Sloane leads our editorial direction with over a decade of experience in residential interior design and home styling. Her specialty is space planning and layout, the unglamorous fundamentals that make a beautiful room actually function.
“If a reader can’t picture themselves doing it on a Saturday afternoon, we haven’t explained it well enough.”
A graduate of the New York School of Interior Design, Amelia has styled over 200 client homes before turning her focus to digital publishing.

Amelia Hart
Senior Design Editor
Amelia curates our small-space and apartment content, drawing on her background in color theory and her years designing under-500-square-foot rentals. She’s the editor who’ll tell you exactly which paint sheen, curtain length, and lamp height to choose, no guessing.
“Good design isn’t about more, it’s about choosing better.”
A former design lead at a boutique studio, her work has been featured in several home and lifestyle publications.
— What Makes Us Different
Interior design advice, minus the overwhelm.
Most interior design content falls into two camps: aspirational mood boards that don’t tell you what to actually buy, or affiliate-stuffed listicles that recommend everything. We do neither. Vellora Interiors takes a framework-first approach, walking you through layout, color, lighting, and decor in the order a designer would actually tackle them.
01
Step-by-step room frameworks instead of generic “10 ideas” lists.
02
Layout-first thinking, no amount of styling fixes a bad floor plan.
03
Real measurements, real proportions, and real product specs you can shop with.
04
Honest recommendations, we don’t push what we wouldn’t put in our own homes.
05
Free downloadable checklists that turn each guide into an actionable plan.

— Giving Back
Design should be accessible to everyone.
A calm, well-designed home shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for people with big renovation budgets. That’s why every core guide on Vellora Interiors is, and always will be, free. We also publish free downloadable room checklists, color palettes, and styling worksheets readers can save, print, and use as they go.
Beyond our content, we spotlight independent makers, small home-goods brands, and emerging designers in our recommendations, helping our readers discover thoughtful options outside of the same big-box stores. Through our reader spotlight series, we feature real homes from our community, because the most inspiring designs almost never come from a magazine.
— Looking Forward
Where we’re headed next.
Our vision is simple: to become the most trusted, genuinely useful interior design resource on the internet, the place readers come back to every time they tackle a new room. Over the next year, we’re expanding into kitchen and home-office guides, launching a free reader Q&A series where editors answer real room dilemmas, and rolling out interactive layout tools to help you plan a room before you move a single piece of furniture.
However your home is evolving, slowly, suddenly, on a budget, or all at once, we’re glad you’re here. Pour yourself something warm, scroll the guides, and let’s design a space that actually feels like you.
