Vellora Interiors Editorial Guidelines Policy

Last Updated: March 2025  |  www.vellorainteriors.com

1. Mission Statement

At Vellora Interiors, we believe great design is more than aesthetics, it is the art of shaping how people live, feel, and connect within their spaces. Our editorial mission is to deliver trustworthy, inspiring, and actionable interior design content that empowers homeowners, design enthusiasts, and industry professionals to make confident, informed decisions about their environments.

Vellora Interiors is dedicated to producing accurate, balanced, and beautifully curated content that educates and inspires our audience while upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and aesthetic excellence.

Every article, guide, product review, and visual feature we publish is shaped by a deep respect for the craft of interior design, the trust of our readers, and the responsibility we hold to present design as both a practical discipline and a transformative experience.

2. Core Editorial Principles

Vellora Interiors upholds the following principles across all content formats — editorial articles, product spotlights, designer interviews, trend guides, and sponsored features alike.

2.1 Accuracy & Fact-Checking

We are committed to presenting factually sound, well-researched content in every piece we publish. Our editorial team verifies all design claims, product specifications, pricing, and technical guidance before publication. Sources include:

  • Direct communication with manufacturers and designers
  • Peer-reviewed publications in design and architecture
  • Reputable trade publications such as Architectural Digest and Dezeen
  • Direct testing or sourcing of featured products

If an error is discovered after publication, we correct it promptly and transparently in accordance with our Corrections Policy (Section 4).

2.2 Editorial Independence

Our editorial voice is independent. Content recommendations, ratings, and editorial opinions are never influenced by advertising relationships, sponsorships, affiliate partnerships, or manufacturer incentives. We maintain a clear and absolute separation between:

  • Paid / sponsored content — always disclosed and labeled
  • Organic editorial content — produced solely on editorial merit
  • Affiliate-linked product mentions — always disclosed with clear labeling

Our editors do not accept gifts, complimentary services, or free products in exchange for favorable reviews. On the rare occasion where products are received for review purposes, this is disclosed clearly within the content.

2.3 Transparency

Vellora Interiors is transparent about how our content is created, funded, and sourced. Specifically:

  • Sponsored content is labeled “Partnered Content” or “Sponsored Feature” at the top of every such article.
  • Affiliate links are disclosed with an in-article note such as: “This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission at no cost to you.”
  • Opinion pieces and personal recommendations from editors are labeled “Editor’s Pick” or “Our View.”
  • Methodologies used in rankings, roundups, or comparisons are explained within the article or in a linked methodology note.

2.4 Privacy & Sensitivity

We deeply respect the privacy and dignity of the people who appear in our content — homeowners, designers, architects, and craftspeople alike.

  • Personal stories, home tours, and designer profiles are published only with explicit written consent from all featured individuals.
  • We do not publish personal addresses, contact details, or private financial information without consent.
  • Topics involving personal hardship, loss, or difficult circumstances are handled with empathy and care — we focus on the human story, not sensationalism.
  • Imagery used in our content represents homes and people with authenticity; we do not over-retouch or present unattainable environments as everyday standards.

2.5 Diversity & Inclusivity

Interior design has a rich, global heritage. Vellora Interiors is committed to celebrating that breadth in our content:

  • We actively commission and amplify voices from underrepresented designers, makers, and communities — including BIPOC designers, independent craftspeople, and international perspectives.
  • Our product features span a range of price points to serve readers across different budgets and living situations.
  • Language in our editorial avoids assumptions about household composition, cultural norms, or design preferences based on demographics.
  • We showcase diverse design traditions — from Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese wabi-sabi to South Asian maximalism and African contemporary design.

2.6 Community Engagement

Our readers are our greatest collaborators. We welcome dialogue, feedback, and community contributions in the following ways:

  • Reader questions submitted via email or social media are reviewed by our editorial team and may inspire future content.
  • Comments on articles are moderated to maintain a respectful, constructive environment. We remove content that is abusive, discriminatory, or off-topic.
  • User-submitted photos (e.g., tagged with #VelloraHome) are shared only with explicit permission and proper attribution.
  • We respond to editorial inquiries and substantive feedback within 5 business days.

2.7 Social Media Ethics

Vellora Interiors maintains the same editorial standards across our social media channels as in our long-form content:

  • All claims shared on social media are verified before posting; we do not amplify unverified viral design trends without appropriate context.
  • Personal opinions shared by team members on their private social accounts are clearly labeled as their own and do not represent the official position of Vellora Interiors.
  • Sponsored social media posts are labeled #ad or #Sponsored in compliance with FTC guidelines.
  • We do not use misleading thumbnails, sensationalized captions, or manipulated “before and after” imagery to drive engagement.

2.8 Legal & Regulatory Compliance

All content published by Vellora Interiors adheres to applicable legal standards:

  • Copyright & Intellectual Property: All imagery is either original, licensed, or used with explicit permission. Photographers and image sources are credited in all content.
  • Defamation: We do not publish unsubstantiated claims about individuals, brands, or businesses. All critical commentary is grounded in verified fact and presented fairly.
  • FTC Compliance: All material commercial relationships — including sponsorships, gifted products, and affiliate links — are disclosed clearly and prominently.
  • Data Privacy: We adhere to applicable data privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA, in the collection and use of reader data.
  • Accessibility: We strive to make our digital content accessible to readers with disabilities, following WCAG 2.1 guidelines where applicable.

2.9 Professional Standards in Design Coverage

Interior design is a licensed profession in many jurisdictions. Vellora Interiors respects those professional boundaries:

  • Content intended to inspire and inform is clearly distinguished from professional design or structural advice.
  • Where appropriate, articles include a note such as: “For structural changes, always consult a licensed architect or contractor.”
  • We do not make unsubstantiated health or safety claims about materials, products, or design practices.

2.10 Aesthetic Integrity

Vellora Interiors maintains a distinctive editorial aesthetic that reflects careful curation over volume:

  • We prioritize quality over quantity — publishing fewer, better-researched pieces rather than high-volume content churn.
  • Product and project photography is selected to represent realistic, attainable design rather than exclusively aspirational imagery.
  • Our editorial team actively resists trend-chasing for its own sake; we evaluate trends critically and provide readers with context for longevity and livability.

3. Corrections Policy

We take accuracy seriously, and we take responsibility for our mistakes with equal seriousness. This policy governs how we identify, categorize, and address errors in our published content.

3.1 Identifying Errors

Errors may be identified through the following channels:

  • Reader Submissions: Readers are encouraged to report errors via email at editorial@vellorainteriors.com or through our website’s Contact form. All submissions are reviewed within 3 business days.
  • Internal Audits: Our editors periodically review published content — particularly evergreen guides and product recommendations — to identify outdated information or discontinued products.
  • Contributor Notifications: Original contributors or featured designers/brands may contact us to flag inaccuracies in content relating to their work.

3.2 Categories of Corrections

Minor Corrections

These include typographical errors, grammatical mistakes, formatting inconsistencies, and broken hyperlinks. Minor corrections are made silently without a published note, as they do not affect the substance of the content.

Substantive Corrections

These include factual inaccuracies, misquotations, incorrect product details, outdated pricing, or misleading guidance. Substantive corrections are handled as follows:

  • The error is corrected in the body of the article.
  • A correction note is added at the end of the article, formatted as: “Correction [Month Year]: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated [brief description]. This has been updated to reflect accurate information.”
  • The date of the correction is appended to the article’s publication date.

Retractions

In rare cases where content is found to be substantially harmful, misleading, or in violation of our editorial principles, and cannot be adequately corrected, it will be retracted. A retraction notice will replace the original content, explaining the reason for removal. Vellora Interiors does not silently delete content that requires a retraction.

3.3 Timelines

  • Minor corrections: Resolved within 48 hours of identification.
  • Substantive corrections: Resolved within 5 business days of verified identification.
  • Retractions: Processed within 10 business days following a full editorial review.

3.4 Accountability

Corrections and retractions are tracked internally by our editorial team. We publish a summary of substantive editorial corrections annually in our editorial transparency report, accessible at www.vellorainteriors.com/editorial-transparency.

4. AI Use Policy

Vellora Interiors embraces technology thoughtfully. We recognize that AI tools offer genuine utility in certain aspects of content creation, while also carrying risks that demand careful oversight. This policy defines how and when AI may be used in our editorial work.

4.1 Permitted Uses of AI

AI tools may be used to assist — not replace — the editorial process in the following ways:

  • Research Support: AI may be used to surface background information or identify relevant industry trends. All AI-assisted research must be independently verified by a human editor before use.
  • SEO & Metadata Optimization: AI tools may assist in generating or refining SEO-optimized titles, meta descriptions, and tags.
  • Image Enhancement: AI-assisted post-processing of photography (e.g., color correction, resizing) is permitted. AI-generated synthetic imagery presented as real interiors is not permitted without explicit disclosure.
  • Editing Assistance: AI grammar and style tools may assist human editors in refining clarity and consistency.

4.2 Prohibited Uses of AI

  • Vellora Interiors does not publish fully AI-generated articles, guides, or reviews. All content must be substantively researched, written, and edited by a human team member.
  • AI-generated quotes, designer testimonials, or attributed statements are strictly prohibited.
  • AI tools may not be used to fabricate product reviews, simulate user experiences, or generate content that misrepresents editorial judgment as human opinion.
  • AI-generated images presented as real interior photographs without clear disclosure are not permitted.

4.3 Disclosure Requirements

When AI tools contribute meaningfully to content, this is disclosed within the article using language such as: “This feature incorporates AI-assisted trend analysis, reviewed and contextualized by our editorial team.”

4.4 Human Oversight

Every piece of content that uses AI assistance at any stage is subject to full editorial review and approval before publication. No AI-assisted content is published without a named human editor taking responsibility for its accuracy, tone, and alignment with Vellora Interiors’ editorial standards.

4.5 Bias Mitigation

We recognize that AI tools can reflect and amplify existing biases. Our editorial team actively reviews AI-assisted content for biases related to style, culture, accessibility, and price point, and ensures our content reflects our diversity and inclusivity commitments outlined in Section 2.5.

4.6 Data Privacy

We do not input private reader data, unpublished contributor information, or proprietary third-party content into AI tools. All AI tool usage complies with applicable data privacy regulations and the terms of service of the tools used.

5. Review & Revision Process

5.2 Interim Updates

Should significant changes in law, platform policy, or editorial practice require interim updates, this policy may be revised outside of the annual schedule. Any substantive changes are communicated to our audience via a website notice and email newsletter update.
